ME 801K Compact 3-Way Coaxial Speaker with Cardioid Low-Frequency Response The ME 801K is a compact, 3-way coaxial speaker featuring a 15-inch low-frequency driver system, a 6.5-inch high-performance midrange system, and a top array of three vertically stacked 1-inch dome tweeters. Its directivity is optimized for listening distances between 3 and 6 meters, delivering natural imaging in both stereo and multichannel modes. Dedicated amplifier modules provide ample power: one 1000 W module for the low frequencies and two 500 W modules for the mid and high frequencies. This configuration ensures high overload safety, preventing signal clipping even at peak levels. The system delivers up to 122 dB SPL with no audible distortion across its entire effective frequency range. An integrated room compensation network within the amplifier electronics allows for adjustment of room-dependent frequency response. Unlike conventional waveguides that control directivity but introduce time-domain reflections and inherent coloration from horn surfaces, we adopted a different approach: a high-frequency array design without horns. By aligning the tweeters coaxially directly in front of the midrange driver, the ME 801K achieves our signature low-coloration sound reproduction. The low-coloration, low-distortion performance of the 6.5-inch high-performance midrange driver results from intelligent structural integration. For instance, the cone operates independently of the cabinet, completely eliminating cabinet resonance. Instead, it utilizes a rear-facing acoustic resistive element to achieve the required directivity. The 15-inch woofer provides specific directivity characteristics, ensuring authentic low-frequency presence even at listening distances up to 6 meters. Our proven K-technology minimizes rearward low-frequency room reflections, significantly simplifying placement within the listening environment. These features make the ME 801K unique in the loudspeaker market. It is specifically optimized for longer listening distances and rooms with minimal acoustic absorption.
